Loy Kratong Festival




Loy Kratong Festival is an important day for Thai people. Loy Kratong is held on the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai Lunar calendar, In the westurn calendar this usually falls in November.

This tradition is set for foriveness on Ganges River. Loy Kratong Festival's held in all areas across the country, especially rivers, lakes, canals and water sources. Which each have unique areas of interests.






Thai people believe if Kratong a floats it will create good luck and thanks the goddess of water Phra Mae Khongkha

Kratong is made from a section of banana tree trunk, decorated with banana leaves, flowers, candles, incense sticks and various materrials.

Loy Kratong means floating on a raft. Loy Kratong started in Sukhothai. However Loy Kratong festival is currently on the festival of Thailand. But with boths Thai and foreign tourists visit Thailand.
